With the mild coastal climates and the pristine water settings found along the Oregon Coast, many waterfowl bird species live here year round enjoying the abundant natural resources available to them. Also, these same attributes draw migratory birds to the region especially prevalent during the seasons of fall and spring. Venturing out to these water settings, Wildlife Explorers can observe domesticated waterfowl species such as swans, geese and ducks in addition to a variety of wild species like wood ducks, surf scoters, common mergansers, buffleheads and green-winged teals. A key highlight of the Oregon Coast Birding Experience is when the multiple subspecies of Canadian Geese arrive in the region as part of their migrations. Observing these geese in full flight organized within their distinctive V-shaped flight formations conveys a sense that nature is always on the move.
