Oregon Coast Tide Pool Locations - Yachats and Northern Lane County
While the Central Oregon Coast contains many sections of basalt coastlines, not all of these settings foster tide pool development. Sometimes the forces of the ocean waves are too extreme for tide pools to form, such as in the case of the coastal areas of Depoe Bay and Miroco. Many of the best spots for exploring the rocky intertidal zones are situated in an area ranging along the shorelines from the City of Yachats to Brays Point in Northern Lane County. The City of Yachats is known for its beautiful natural surroundings with miles of rocky shorelines and the neighboring Siuslaw National Forest on its east side. The Yachats Area includes several state parks and other access points spread throughout the community for reaching these tide pool areas lining the city shorelines. Further southward into Lane County, the Neptune State Scenic Viewpoint offers multiple spots along Highway 101 for enjoying the unspoiled natural surroundings of this magnificent stretch of coastline. The park area offers many pristine tide pools only impacted by the true forces of nature.
