| A centuries-old lighthouse flashes a beacon of light from a distant rocky approach reminding us of the safety of the shoreline and our coastal heritage of living along the Pacific Ocean. The tradition of the Keeper’s Light continues each night with each lighthouse flashing its own unique signature pattern of light beams helping to guide those mariners on the open ocean with a sense of direction. From land, the lighthouses stand tall as a work of art timeless in their cultural appeal and holding firm in the face of the harsh elements of nature. The Central Oregon Coast Real Estate Market Area is very fortunate to have four lighthouses located along its shorelines in addition to being readily accessible to the public. These lighthouses are located in a variety of park facilities providing the general public with the opportunity to access and share in the beauty of these Sentinels of the Oregon Coast. One can spend a day visiting all four lighthouses or better yet, can spend a day each exploring the lighthouse itself and the surrounding park grounds from which these lighthouses are situated. This Coast Photo Gallery Tour captures the essence of exploring these lighthouses and their wonderful settings from both an aerial perspective as well as from a site visit. The four lighthouses covered in this tour include the Cape Meares Lighthouse, Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and the Heceta Head Lighthouse. While modern technology has impacted these lighthouses from their original designs, the allure of these structures continues to invoke strong support from within their respective communities. The spirit of the Oregon Coast continues to shine on brightly supported by the many people who care about the preservation of these magnificent Central Oregon Coast Lighthouses. Through their vision, and the ongoing dedication of many volunteers, we have the opportunity to take a step back in history and share in the experiences of the families and individuals that kept the light shining on in all weather conditions. A visit to any of these coastal lighthouses provides an extraordinary educational outlet for preserving our cultural heritage while adding to the wonderful aspects of our spectacular lifestyle here on the Oregon Coast. |
