The Four Lighthouses of the Central Oregon Coast

The Central Oregon Coast Real Estate Market Area includes four lighthouses, each one offering remarkable scenic viewpoints of the Oregon Coast. The Cape Meares Lighthouse is located on the northern end of the Three Capes Scenic Drive in Tillamook County, and is the smallest in size at 38 feet tall. While the lighthouse has been decommissioned in favor of an automated beacon light system, the lighthouse structure remains intact for visitors to explore. The second lighthouse is located within the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area in the north end of Newport Oregon. Recently, an extensive top-to-bottom restoration of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse was completed to preserve the facility for future generations and included repainting the lighthouse to its original paint scheme. The third lighthouse is the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, also located in Newport. The lighthouse sits on a bluff overlooking the Yaquina River Bar, where the waters of the Yaquina Bay meet the Pacific Ocean. The lighthouse has been restored beautifully and includes wonderful historical exhibits on the perspective of living in the lighthouse during its operation in the 1870s. The lighthouse is a key feature of the Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site. The fourth lighthouse, the Heceta Head Lighthouse is located in northern Lane County Oregon. This picturesque lighthouse is sited on the western end of Heceta Head and is a key part of the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint.
