The North Aerial Guide Overview Tour Two starts at the Cascade Head Experimental Forest and Scenic Research Area, an important coastal habitat area designated within the Siuslaw National Forest, set up for the study of several coastal-based species of evergreen trees living within the moist climatic conditions of the Oregon Coast. The Cascade Head Area is a popular destination for many outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the fantastic nature trails available in the area as well as the superb ocean vistas found overlooking the mouth of the picturesque Salmon River Estuary. From the Salmon River Estuary, the tour continues southward into Roads End, the northernmost community developed within Lincoln County. The beach strand fronting the Roads End Community Area is a major attraction throughout the year, drawing beach travelers especially during the months of summer and early fall when bright sunny days create the ideal setting for fun in the sun.
The tour captures the unique attributes of the City of Lincoln City with its seven miles of sandy shorelines and the fresh water lake setting of Devils Lake. The tour highlights the major districts of the Lincoln City Area including Oceanlake, Devils Lake, Nelscott, Taft and Cutler City. The Lincoln City Area includes a nice assortment of City Parks as well as Oregon State Parks set along the ocean and the waters of Devils Lake. Proceeding south, the tour showcases the natural splendor of the Siletz Bay Estuary and River System plus the nearby residential areas of the Siletz Keys Development and the Kernville Community Area. The tour concludes at the Salishan Spit, the western shoreline of the Siletz Bay Estuary. The Siletz Bay and the Salishan Spit serve as the natural setting for several residential areas developed within the Salishan Area, as part of the Gleneden Beach Community Area of Lincoln County. Key Points of Interest presented in this tour include Cascade Head, Salmon River Estuary, Devils Lake, D River State Park, Drift Creek, Siletz Bay Estuary and River System, Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the Salishan Spit Area.
