The Historic Nye Beach Community Area - Nye Beach Area Parks and Art Centers

The Nye Beach Community Area is rich in history as being the City of Newport’s first resort area and today still maintains its seaside charm featuring small boutique stores and dining establishments as well as offering many cultural arts experiences. At the heart of the Nye Beach Area is the Nye Beach Turnaround City Park. The Nye Beach Turnaround features a host of amenities including paved parking lots, public restrooms and a foot-wash area, picnic tables overlooking the beach strand, and public beach access. The Nye Beach Turnaround Area includes several of the city’s main art centers including the Newport Visual Arts Center and the Yaquina Arts Association Center. In addition, the Nye Beach Community is home to the Newport Performing Arts Center offering year-round cultural arts events managed by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts. The Don Davis City Park is another park area in Nye Beach and includes public restrooms and a gazebo for enjoying the ocean scenery, public beach access and the site of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
