The Headland of Cape Perpetua - Cape Perpetua Scenic Area

The basalt shorelines found in the City of Yachats extends southward into the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area creating one of the most beautiful coastline stretches located on the Oregon Coast. The Cape Perpetua Scenic Area contains 2,700 acres designated as part of the Siuslaw National Forest including magnificent coastlines laced with tide pools and pocket beaches plus verdant old growth forests showcasing Sitka Spruce Trees. The park offers a wide variety of Day Use Activities plus a campground facility known as the Camp Perpetua Campground catering to individuals and group member outings. At the north end of the park is the Headland of Cape Perpetua rising almost 800 above the ocean. On top of the cape is the Cape Perpetua Overlook offering incredible views of the ocean looking out to the open sea and also along the coastline in both directions. Also nearby is the West Shelter Lookout built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, now a popular spot for whale watching activities from high above. The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center is a park attraction admired for its useful interpretive displays about the area’s natural surroundings.
