The Offshore Rocks of Otter Rock and Whale Back Rock - The Beverly Beach Area

The ocean area found between the Town of Otter Rock and the Beverly Beach State Park features three offshore rock formations identified directionally as Gull Rock to the north, Otter Rock in the middle, and Whale Back Rock to the south. All three rock formations are contained within the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge providing protection to a variety of animals. Gull Rock is the largest of the three rocks and is best visible from the Town of Otter Rock. The other two formations are most visible during low tidal conditions from several stopping points available on the west side of the highway along the route of Highway 101 near the Beverly Beach Area. The Beverly Beach State Park and Campground is a popular destination within the Oregon State Parks System and is well-liked for its beach strand and its excellent camping facilities. The park grounds include a Day Use Area offering public restrooms and parking, picnic tables and a pathway leading westward out to Beverly Beach. For camping, the park provides a variety of campsite options plus other amenities including a nature trail system, an outdoor amphitheater, a visitor center and a park area with playground equipment. The Communities of Finisterre and Beverly Beach are located to the south of the park and include home sites affording ocean views coupled with lot locations on the interior situated amongst the shore pines.
