Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site - The Bayshore Spit Area

The Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site is located on the west side of Highway 101 at the south end of the Community of Seal Rock and offers Day-Use Park Facilities only. Key park amenities include a paved parking lot, ocean view bench seating, picnic tables, a building with restroom facilities and access to drinking water. Also, the Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site provides a paved trail to the ocean shores offering the opportunity to explore a wide expanse of the sandy beach areas in both directions. Several Seal Rock Neighborhoods are located near the Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site including the Driftwood Village Mobile Home Park and the Development of Oceanview Terrace. The course of Highway 101 leaves the Community of Seal Rock and enters into the north end of the Community of Waldport along the Bayshore Spit Area. This lengthy beach strand starts in Seal Rock and then extends southward, eventually ending at the mouth of the Alsea Bay and the tip of the Bayshore Spit. Several nice developments are located along the Bayshore Spit Area including Sandpiper Shores, Sandpiper Village and Bayshore. The Development of Sandpiper Shores is a gated subdivision designed with individual home sites oriented towards the white water surf. Sandpiper Village features a similar design of individual home sites together with shared beach accesses. The Development of Bayshore is the largest of the three subdivisions, featuring a combination of manufactured and site-built homes spread out over a variety of beach settings as well as lot locations overlooking the Alsea Bay and the Alsea Bay Bridge. In addition, the Bayshore Development contains a clubhouse area with an outdoor swimming pool, picnic tables and a trail to the beach.
