| South of the Nestucca Bay Estuary, the sandy beach strand continues southward for many miles creating the pristine shoreline setting bordering the Community of Neskowin. The Community of Neskowin is situated within Tillamook County and is known for its wonderful rural residential areas existing together with minimal commercial real estate developments. The Neskowin Area offers a variety of settings including sandy beach areas, running creeks, verdant wetlands, lush hillsides and evergreen forests, and panoramic vantage points of the Pacific Ocean available throughout most of the community neighborhoods. The pristine beauty of these natural surroundings has fostered a community spirit intent on preserving these spectacular settings for many generations to enjoy in the future. The Neskowin Areas beach strand stretches from the Nestucca Spit all the way southward to the headland cliffs of Cascade Head. The main access point to Neskowin Beach is available at the Neskowin Beach State Recreation Site, an Oregon State Park located near Highway 101 at the center of the Neskowin Village. The park contains a paved parking lot, restroom facilities and a pathway to the beach and Proposal Rock. The rock formation of Proposal Rock is located on Neskowin Beach and draws it name from local lore when an early pioneer couple was engaged there on the rock. The Neskowin Area offers many fine choices for coastal living within a mixture of vintage neighborhoods, open county rural areas and a variety of planned developments offering ocean views and beach access. The Neskowin Area is home to a seasonal nine-hole golf course known as the Neskowin Beach Golf Course. The second course in the Neskowin Area known as the Hawk Creek Golf Course is now closed pending future residential development. Additionally, the Neskowin Area includes the Neskowin Marsh Unit, a separate section of wetland areas protected under the Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge. With its sloping hillsides ever-present, the Community of Neskowin is home to a multitude of creeks and tributaries contributing to the vitality of its natural habitats and watershed areas including Hawk Creek and Neskowin Creek. |
