Cape Kiwanda and Haystack Rock - The Community of Pacific City

The third cape encountered along the route of the Three Capes Scenic Drive is Cape Kiwanda, the smallest in size of the three capes. Cape Kiwanda and the offshore rock formation of Haystack Rock are recognized as the two prominent landmarks found within the Pacific City Coastline. The Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area is an Oregon State Park offering outdoor activities including popular surfing spots set around the headland area and beach dunes of the cape. During heavy surf conditions, the Cape Kiwanda Area is well-known for its magnificent wave action found here when thunderous forces of water are propelled against its shoreline. The Nestucca River winds its way past the small Community of Woods and then flows southwest towards the sandy beach areas of Pacific City. The Nestucca River continues flowing southward through the Pacific City Area eventually meeting the Nestucca Bay and Estuary situated to the south of the community. The Community of Pacific City is set along the beach strand running from the south side of Cape Kiwanda to the mouth of the Nestucca Bay Estuary. The housing options available within the Community of Pacific City take advantage of the various vantage points seen of Cape Kiwanda, Haystack Rock, the Nestucca River and the sand dune formations facing the ocean. The Pacific City Area offers a wide variety of housing choices built in either county neighborhood areas or within a wide assortment of planned unit developments.
