The Communities of Oceanside and Netarts - Netarts Bay Estuary and Spit Area
South of Cape Meares is the quaint coastal village of Oceanside admired for its exceptional sandy beaches and its picturesque views of the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge, a famous Oregon Coast Landmark. Maxwell Point at Oceanside provides a hillside setting where many homes have been built capturing the awesome views of the Pacific Ocean and the silhouettes of the Three Arch Rocks rock formations. The small headland at Maxwell Point protrudes out to the waters edge forming the north end of the Oceanside Beach Strand that runs southward towards the Netarts Bay Estuary. The beach strand is accessible from the Oregon State Park known as the Oceanside Beach State Recreation Site. This State Park features many outdoor activities including agate hunting, picnicking, wildlife and birdwatching, and a place to gaze at hang gliders floating in the air above the beach. The neighboring Community of Netarts is located to the south and is set along the waters of the Netarts Bay Estuary. The Netarts Landing Boat Launch County Park offers a boat launch into Netarts Bay renowned for its excellent crabbing, clamming and fishing grounds. The Netarts Bay Estuary includes a five mile sandy beach spit making up the western edge of the estuary and is accessible for exploring from a trail pathway available at the Cape Lookout State Park located south of the Netarts Community Area.
