The Communities of Salishan and Gleneden Beach - Siletz Bay State Airport
One of the key attractions to the Salishan Community Area is its close proximity to the Siletz Bay Estuary System. The Siletz Bay Estuary is affected daily by the incoming and ongoing tides circulating large amounts of water in and out of the bay. A community nature trail is available for observing the southern shoreline of the Siletz Bay Estuary as well as the abundant wildlife frequenting the area. The nature trail is accessible from a pathway leading west from the north parking lot found at the Shops at Salishan. Heading south past Salishan, Highway 101 continues on towards the main business center of Gleneden Beach. The Gleneden Beach Community is an unincorporated part of Lincoln County and offers a combination of county residential neighborhoods and several additional planned subdivisions. Most of the residential development found within the Gleneden Beach Area is situated on the west side of Highway 101. A small business district is located on the west side of Highway 101 set along Gleneden Beach Loop Road. Open to the public, the Siletz Bay State Airport is an unattended airport catering to recreational use aircraft located on the east side of Highway 101. The Siletz Bay State Airport is owned and managed by the Oregon State Department of Aviation and is rated at an elevation height of 69 feet. The airport includes hangar space and two runways identified as Runway 17 and Runway 35.
