D River State Recreation Area - South Lincoln City

The D River State Recreation Area is a very popular destination within Lincoln City, due to its close proximity to the beach and Highway 101. D River is known as the world’s shortest river as its runs a mere 120 feet from Devils Lake to the white water surf of the Pacific Ocean. The recreation area is one of the main beach access points serving the general public and is an excellent place to visit at the sunset hour. The winds along D River State Recreation Area are exceptional for kite flying and two kite festivals are held there each year. The Lincoln City Area has been designated as one the best places in North America for Kite Flying and carries the distinction as The Kite Capital of the World. Also, D River is the location that separates the main city sections of North and South Lincoln City. The north tip of the Delake District includes many small city neighborhoods, the Lincoln City Hall Complex with its Driftwood Library, and various merchant services highlighted by the factory stores outlet mall. Canyon Drive Park is one of the main city parks areas within South Lincoln City. Canyon Drive Park offers wonderful amenities including walking beach access, vehicle beach access, restrooms, a lawn and sitting area and public parking. This city park serves as the main beach access point for many of the oceanfront and ocean views homes located on Coast Avenue, the main street in the area that runs north and south along the ocean.
