Big Creek Estuary and Bridge - Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park

The Big Creek Bridge is a coastal bridge created by Conde B. McCullough, built in 1931 utilizing the same design as used in the Tenmile Creek Bridge and the Wilson River Bridge. The Big Creek Estuary is another important creek habitat area supporting many wildlife and fish species. The Muriel O. Ponsler Memorial State Scenic Viewpoint is an Oregon State Day Use Park offering shoreline access to the Beach Strands of Roosevelt Beach and Washburne Beach plus China Creek as well. The Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park includes the Washburne Campground located east of Highway 101 plus an oceanfront Day Use Site. This park offers public restrooms, outdoor picnicking, access to the beach strand of Washburne Beach, and trail connections to the nature trail system leading throughout the State Park and southward towards the Heceta Head Lighthouse.
