The Community of Seal Rock - Quail Street at Collins Creek Access

South of the Seal Rock State Recreation Site, a small outcropping of basalt rocks separates several small pocket beaches from a larger beach strand that runs south towards the Waldport Area. This large beach strand occupies the southern end of the Community of Seal Rock and runs south for several miles past the Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site and ends at the Bayshore Spit in Waldport. The northern end of this beach strand is accessible from a small beach access point known as the Quail Street at Collins Creek Beach Access. Quail Street is situated on the west side of Highway 101 and the beach access is available at the end of the street. A very small amount of parking is available around the area of the beach access point. Heading south of the Quail Street at Collins Creek Beach Access, Highway 101 continues on into the southern end of Seal Rock. On the west side of Highway 101, the residential development includes mainly individual home sites set in the ocean bluffs and dunes overlooking the ocean and the beach strand. Most of these lot locations are connected directly to Highway 101 or on small stub streets running west off the Highway 101 Corridor. On the east side of Highway 101 are several wetland areas centered near Marsh Creek and Fox Creek. The wetland areas offer an important habitat for many plants and animals as well as providing open space from real estate development. Just south of these wetland areas is the small neighborhood area of Fox Creek, found on the east side of Highway 101. The Fox Creek Neighborhood Area features rural properties with larger lot sizes and more open spaces between property boundary lines. From the Fox Creek Community Area, Highway 101 heads south and shortly meets the facilities of the Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site.
