The Development of Alsea Highlands - The Development of Sandpiper Shores

The Alsea Bay North Wayside is located at the north end of the Alsea Bay Bridge and is accessible from a roadway built on the west side of Highway 101. The Alsea Bay North Wayside is associated with the park facilities of the Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center found at the south end of the bridge. The Alsea Bay North Wayside includes pedestrian access to the bridge plus a short trail leading out to a lookout underneath the bridge affording intriguing view lines of the Y-Supported Foundation System utilized on the structure. The Alsea Bay North Wayside contains a permanent marker noting the height above the water at 66.7 feet in addition to the original spire columns used on the 1936 bridge, paying tribute to the work of Conde B. McCullough. Also, the park includes a secret time capsule dedicated in 1991 and scheduled to be reopened in the 2012 timeframe. The Development of Alsea Highlands is located on a bay front ridge overlooking the Alsea Bay and the Alsea Bay Bridge. The community is located on the east side of Highway 101 and is well-liked for its lovely neighborhood setting of manicured yards and evergreen trees. The Development of Alsea Highlands is contained within the Waldport City Limits and features interior treed properties plus spectacular lot locations offering panoramic vistas of the beautiful Alsea Bay Estuary and the Alsea Bay Bridge. On the west side of Highway 101 are a variety of residential developments built along the Bayshore Spit Area including the Development of Sandpiper Shores. The gated Sandpiper Shores Development offers both ocean-facing properties and shared community access to the beach.
