Sand Lake Estuary - Clay Myers State Natural Area at Whalen Island

The Sand Lake Estuary Area features a natural estuarine ecosystem coupled with several State Park Facilities for enjoying this scenic area. The estuary system borders the Sand Lake Recreation Area and Campgrounds and also integrates with the Clay Myers State Natural Area at Whalen Island and the Sand Creek Estuary. This State Natural Area at Whalen Island supports a diverse set of species including fresh and saltwater wetlands, mixed woodlands, grasslands and a rare native dune sedgeland. The area affords many outdoor activities including wildlife viewing, bird watching, fishing, and walking trails. As we head south of the Sand Lake Estuary, we arrive at the beachside community of Tierra Del Mar Oregon.
