Sand Lake Recreation Area

South of Cape Lookout is a summer camp owned by the Boy Scouts of America/Cascade Pacific Council known as Camp Meriwether. The facility offers a summer camping experience to many scouts alongside two miles of pristine shorelines and also a fresh-water lake setting. South of Camp Meriwether is the Sand Lake Recreation Area, an area featuring off-highway vehicle use over the sand dunes set near the Sand Lake Estuary. The Sand Lake Recreation Area offers several campgrounds overlooking the ocean plus vehicle access to the open beach areas and the surrounding dunes. The Sand Lake Recreation Area includes 1,076 acres contained within the Siuslaw National Forest in Tillamook County, and is found along the coastal route of the Three Capes Scenic Drive.
