Cascade Head Scenic Research Area - Salmon River Estuary
The Cascade Head Area includes two prairie headlands. The main headland is known as Cascade Head, named after the water cascading off its sheer cliff faces. This headland offers hikers and photo hobbyists with incredible seascapes of the Oregon Coast through several hiking trails found in the area. The Nature Conservancy offers a trail system designed for taking in the amazing panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Salmon River Estuary from several observation points positioned along the trail. The Cascade Head Area includes several additional attractions for visitors to enjoy while visiting the area. The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology offers educational opportunities for learning more about the area’s spectacular natural science surroundings, along with promoting various forms of art. Knight Park, a Lincoln County Park in the area provides a place for starting the Cascade Head Hiking Trail or providing kayak/boat launch access for exploring the Salmon River Estuary and Spit. Also, the Cascade Head Area is located at the transition point where Tillamook County changes over to Lincoln County.
