Cape Foulweather - Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint

The Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint features stunning ocean vistas that come from being situated on the top of Cape Foulweather at almost 500 feet above sea level. These terrific views are best enjoyed at the paved observation lookout built on top of the sheer rock faces found within Cape Foulweather, near the southwestern end of the park. The fenced lookout area affords expansive views of the Pacific Ocean shimmering below and the magnificent coastline scenery of Otter Rock and North Newport to the south. The lookout provides a different vantage point for whale watching activities during gray whale migrations and when the whales are feeding offshore. South facing views dominate the area highlighted by Local Point of Interests including Gull Rock, the sandstone cliffs bordering the developments of Seacrest and the Inn at Otter Crest, the marine gardens located at the north end of the Devils Punch Bowl State Natural Area and the Town of Otter Rock. Additional views include the beach areas of Beverly Beach and Moolack Beach in North Newport, and the Yaquina Head Lighthouse off in the horizon. While the park has a nice paved parking area, the park does not have any restroom facilities available on the grounds. The park connects to the main intersection located at the crest of Cape Foulweather and the Otter Crest Loop Road. Just south of the park on Otter Crest Loop Road are two other vantage points that are set along the edge of the roadway, near areas where the vegetation line clears out. These vantage points offer fantastic views of the seascapes below including an incredible view angle of Gull Rock. Continuing south on Otter Crest Loop Road, the roadway winds down the south end of Cape Foulweather and arrives at the entryway for the Inn at Otter Crest and Seacrest, two planned developments located in the Otter Crest Area, and then heads towards the Town of Otter Rock.
