| One of the special aspects of Little Whale Cove is the blending of community use and personal use along the oceanfront. While careful attention has been made to enhance the ocean views of the individual lot locations, the community needs have been addressed as well by the creation of well placed common areas and a community pathway system for all residents to share in the oceanfront living experience. This ocean pathway system runs along most of the developments rocky shoreline and connects to several of the interior streets allowing for community-wide access. The pathway supports a combination of pedestrian use plus bicycle use, as set up in some parts of the trail. A few benches have been placed along the trail for spectators to relax and absorb the awesome scenery, especially alluring on a warm sunny day when the ocean waters are sparkling magically. Along the pathways northern end, a whale watching deck has been built into the basalt rocks allowing for waters edge viewing of the ocean waves and the surrounding seascapes. Another key community attraction is Little Whale Cove itself. The water within the cove is fed regularly by several creeks that drain into the cove as well as salt water that is propelled over the outer rock ledges during high surf conditions. Part of the communitys pathway system includes several trails that lead to the cove and the beach area surrounding the cove. As part of the trail system, one of the trails leads to a gazebo building sited near the cove, offering a place to unwind. The beach area located within the cove is considered private to the community and is composed of sand granules and small pebbles. Along with the acclaimed oceanfront lots, Little Whale Cove has residential home sites that overlook Little Whale Cove itself, with some of these lot locations offering both cove and distant ocean views. Further, the neighborhood experience is enhanced by the wonderful stands of evergreen trees found within the community. |
