City of Depoe Bay - The Development of Little Whale Cove
Situated on the headland of an ancient lava flow, the Development of Little Whale Cove accentuates the awesome beauty of the Oregon Coast and the Pacific Northwest. Located within the city limits of Depoe Bay, the community is sited between the Southpoint Neighborhood to the north, and the small city development of Whale Cove to the south. The development is named after Little Whale Cove, a small cove contained within the rocky shoreline formations of the area. A rocky basalt point serves to separate the development from Whale Cove, the larger cove to the south. Little Whale Cove is accessible from Highway 101 on its east side and includes a gated entrance into the community. Little Whale Cove features a variety of living choices consisting of residential home sites and condominium options designed to take advantage of the beautiful ocean vistas and the majestic evergreen treed settings found in the community. The western edge of the development is characterized by jagged basalt cliff formations that jut out into the Pacific Ocean, creating an amazing display of coastal seascapes. Depending on the location of the individual oceanfront lots, the coastal scenery available within Little Whale Cove include scenes of the City of Depoe Bay, western facing views of the Pacific Ocean and south vistas overlooking Whale Cove and the Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint. During high surf conditions, the waves pounding the basalt cliffs around Little Whale Cove provide some of the most stunning water action anywhere on the Oregon Coast. Hours can be spent listening to the roar of the crashing waves and gazing upon the tremendous water displays cascading upwards off the rocks. Also along the oceanfront, community residents can participate in many site seeing hobbies including whale watching and birding activities, lounging over the spectacle of a fiery sunset, or watching the ships coming in and out of the Depoe Bay Harbor Channel. The oceanfront experience of Little Whale Cove is truly astounding, a one of a kind setting on the Oregon Coast.
