| While the Depoe Bay Harbor Area serves many marine interests, the harbor area also provides a splendid backdrop for the surrounding residential areas taking advantage of the locales picturesque bridge and water views. The neighborhoods of Downtown and East on Collins blend together with the residential areas located behind the Depoe Bay Harbor Area, forming a substantial city section on the east side of Highway 101. These developed areas offer a variety of residential living options including site built homes, manufactured homes, condominiums and multi-unit apartment complexes. Further, the appeal of these community locations is the proximity to Highway 101 access, in addition to the closeness to downtown shopping, the bridge and seawall area, the harbor area, and the Depoe Bay City Park. Many of these locations overlook the Depoe Bay Highway 101 Bridge and also, may offer distant views of the sparkling ocean waters and the beautiful seascapes surrounding the Depoe Bay Area. These residential neighborhoods feature an assortment of city streets and are served primarily by water and sewer services provided by the City of Depoe Bay. One of the main subdivisions found behind the harbor area is Anchor Estates. The Anchor Estates Development features a planned subdivision of homes on individual lots, plus recorded covenants. Serving the local community, the Depoe Bay Community Center is located within the inner harbor area, near the Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay. The Depoe Bay Community Center serves the community interest throughout the year and is the center for such events as the Crab Feed and Wooden Boat Show, and the Magic of Christmas Holiday Celebration. Within this inner harbor area, a pedestrian trail exists that connects from the lawn areas of the Depoe Bay City Park to the harbors east side parking lot. Heading north beyond the Coast Guard Station, the trail leads past the Depoe Bay Community Center onto Bay Street, and then follows west towards the main downtown area, the Depoe Bay Highway 101 Bridge and the Painter Building/Seawall area. |
